My School's Awesome Fruit Picking Adventure!

Hey guys, it's me, Tommy! I'm a 4th grader at Maple Valley Elementary School. I have the most exciting news to share with you all about an amazing field trip our class went on last week. Get ready because this is going to be an epic tale!

Last Thursday, my teacher Mrs. Roberts told us we were going on a super special field trip. She said we were going fruit picking at a local farm! I couldn't believe my ears. Picking fresh fruits right off the trees and bushes? This was going to be way better than sitting in our classroom all day.

The next morning, we all piled onto the big yellow school bus, buzzing with excitement. After a 30-minute drive into the countryside, we finally arrived at Smith Family Farm. The second I stepped off that bus, the sweet smell of ripe fruits filled my nose. Rows and rows of fruit trees and bushes stretched out as far as I could see. This was gonna be awesome!

The farmer, Old McDonald (no, seriously, that was his name!) greeted us with a big toothless grin. He seemed just as excited as we were! First, he gave us a quick lesson on the different kinds of fruits growing on his land - strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, peaches, apples, and pears. He also taught us the proper way to pick each fruit without damaging the plants. Safety first, after all!

Then it was finally time to start picking. We split up into small groups and each group was assigned to a different section of the farm. My best friends Billy, Sarah, and Timmy were in my group, along with a few other kids. Mrs. Roberts led us over to the strawberry patch and we got to work.

Let me tell you, picking strawberries is not as easy as it looks! You have to really look closely because the ripe red ones can easily blend in with the green leaves. After a while though, I was a strawberry-spotting pro. My little basket quickly filled up with plump, juicy berries. I may have snuck a few into my mouth too...oops!

Next up were the blackberry bushes. These were a bit trickier because of all the thorns. But that didn't stop me! Slowly but surely, I filled up another basket, getting my hands all purple and

sticky in the process. No biggie though, that's just part of the fun!

We spent the entire morning going from patch to patch, filling up baskets with fresh fruit. My favorite was definitely the peach trees though. There's nothing quite like biting into a ripe, fuzzy peach straight from the tree. By the time we got to the apple orchards, our baskets were practically overflowing!

Around lunchtime, we all took a break to eat the lunches we had brought with us. But who needs a boring old sandwich when you have a bajillion fresh fruits to snack on? I loaded up my lunchbox with handfuls of berries, apple slices, and peach wedges. It was honestly the best lunch ever.

After we had refueled, Old McDonald had one more surprise for us. He led us over to a small shed and brought out...baby chicks! Awww they were the cutest, fluffiest little things. We each got to hold one and feed them little pieces of bread from our hands. The chickies gobbled up all the crumbs, tickling my palms with their tiny beaks. Some of the girls may have squealed in delight...but not me, of course!

Finally, after a long, tiring but super fun-filled day, it was time to head back to the bus. Our baskets were overflowing with all the fresh produce we had picked. On the ride back to school,

we compared our treasures and traded some fruits around. I gave Sarah a couple apples for some of her blackberries. A fair trade if you ask me!

When we got back to the classroom, Mrs. Roberts had one last surprise waiting. She'd set up a little farm stand right in the hallway! We each got to take our baskets of goodies home to our families. Can you imagine the looks on my parents' faces when I walked through the door carrying more fresh fruits than we'd buy in a whole year?

That night, we had a feast for dinner - peach salad, berry smoothies, apple crumble, you name it. My mom and dad were amazed at how many fruits we'd picked with our own hands. I felt like a real farmer!

This field trip was easily one of the highlights of my entire 4th grade year so far. Who knew picking fruits could be so insanely fun? I had a blastlearning about all the different kinds that grow in our area, getting hands-on experience in the fields, and best of all, taking home bushels of healthy snacks to enjoy. I'm already counting down the days until we can go fruit picking again next year. A huge thank you to Mrs. Roberts, Old McDonald, and Smith Family Farm for showing this city kid what

it's really like on a farm. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a pear calling my name!

Fun Fruit Picking at Pine Grove Orchard!

Last Saturday was the best day ever! My class went on a field trip to Pine Grove Orchard to pick fresh fruits and vegetables. I was so excited because I love fruits and I had never been fruit picking before.

We took a big yellow school bus to get to the orchard. It was pretty far away, about an hour's drive from our school. The bus ride felt so long, but it was fun singing silly songs with my friends to pass the time.

When we finally arrived, I could see rows and rows of fruit trees - apples, pears, peaches, and more! There were also lots of vegetable plants growing. It looked like a giant garden!

Mr. Robertson, the owner of the orchard, greeted us with a big smile. He seemed really nice. He gave us all a quick lesson on how to properly pick the fruits and vegetables without damaging the plants.

The first place we went was the apple orchard. We had to be very careful not to pull too hard on the apples or the whole branch might break. I picked three big, juicy red apples and put them gently into my basket. They were so shiny and perfect! Next, we wandered over to the pear trees. I reached up on my tippy-toes to pick one from higher up. It was a bright green pear, still a little firm. Mrs. Davis, my teacher, said that's how you can tell it's not too ripe yet.

After picking some peaches, plums, and berries, it was time to dig up some veggies! We headed over to the vegetable patch. I found some big, orange carrots and pulled them up from the dirt. I also picked a few red, ripe tomatoes from the vines. Getting them straight from the garden made them taste a million times better than from the grocery store!

Once all of our baskets were full of yummy fruits and veggies, it was time for a picnic lunch. We sat together on blankets and ate the fresh food we had just picked. I had a delicious turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread, plus some baby carrots, an apple, and a juicy peach for dessert. It was definitely the best lunch ever!

After we ate, Mr. Robertson gave us all a fun quiz about what we had learned that day. I remembered that you have to cup

your hand around fruits like peaches so you don't bruise them when picking. I got the quiz question right and won a big strawberry lollipop as a prize!

On the way back to the bus, I spotted a friendly black and white dog running around. His name was Buddy and he was the orchard's pet. I got to pet his soft fur and give him a scratch behind the ears before we left.

As we waved goodbye, I felt so happy and proud of my basket overflowing with nutritious fruits and veggies that I had picked myself. I couldn't wait to show my parents everything I had learned.

The fruit picking field trip was the highlight of my year so far. I had so much fun being outdoors, learning about where fresh produce comes from, and picking it straight from the plants. I'll never look at fruits and veggies the same way again! Next time my mom goes to the grocery store, I'm going to tell her all about the apple orchard and ask if we can go fruit picking together. It was such an amazing experience that I definitely want to do again. Three cheers for fruit picking!

Fun Fruit Picking Day at Johnson Farms!

Hi everyone! My name is Timmy and I'm a 3rd grader at Oakwood Elementary School. I have some super exciting news to share about the best field trip ever! Last week, my whole class went fruit picking at Johnson Farms and it was the funnest day! We started off by riding the big yellow school bus to the farm. I loved looking out the window and seeing all the cows and horses as we drove past fields and farms. When we got to Johnson Farms, a nice farmer lady named Mrs. Johnson greeted us. She had a sun hat and overalls on.

\"Welcome to our family farm, kids!\" she said with a big smile. \"Who's ready to pick some yummy fruits today?\"

We all cheered and raised our hands up high. I was so excited!

First, Mrs. Johnson showed us around the farm. We got to see the barn where all the farm animals live like cows, pigs, and chickens. We even got to pet some of the friendly goats! Their fur was so soft and fluffy. A few of them kept trying to eat my hat though, which made everyone laugh.

After visiting the animals, Mrs. Johnson took us over to the strawberry fields first. Row after row was filled with green strawberry plants and tons of bright red strawberries! Mrs.

Johnson showed us how to pick the ripest ones and put them gently in our baskets without smushing them.

\"Only pick the strawberries that are fully red, with no green or white on them,\" she instructed.

I quickly filled up my little basket, sneakily eating a strawberry or two along the way when Mrs. Johnson wasn't looking. They were so sweet and delicious! Some of the strawberries had fun shapes too like hearts and doubled-up twins.

Once everyone's strawberry baskets were full, we moved over to the raspberry fields next. The raspberries were a pretty purplish-red color. We had to be extra careful picking those because the bushes were pokey! But the raspberries made my fingers stain red which was kinda fun.

My favorite was going to the blueberry fields though! Blueberries are my absolute favorite fruit. The bushes were tall, almost up to my shoulders. As I reached to pick the bluest blueberries, I had to be careful not to get the juices all over my shirt. I couldn't help doing a little taste test while picking though - they were so good!

After we picked all the blueberries, Mrs. Johnson said we had a bonus stop - the cherry orchard! We stopped at some cherry trees and some of the parents helped shake the branches so cherry rain would fall down on our buckets. It was like a cherry avalanche! I caught a bunch in my bucket and in my mouth too. Once all our baskets and buckets were totally full and overflowing with all the yummy fruits, it was time to head back to school. My arms were sore from so much picking, but it was worth it! On the bus ride back, I happily snacked on some of the fresh strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and cherries we picked.

When we got back to school, my teacher Mrs. Clark said we were going to make a biiiiig fruit salad to share with our families at the next PTA meeting! She collected everyone's baskets and we got to work washing, cutting and mixing all the fresh fruits we picked into one giant salad. It looked so colorful and delicious. A few days later at the PTA meeting, we all got to dig into the huge fruit salad! My mom and dad loved it. They were so proud of me for picking so much fresh fruit. I felt like a real farmer!

Picking fruits at Johnson Farms was definitely the funnest and yummiest field trip ever. I can't wait to go back again next

year! I'm already dreaming about more strawberry candy-shaped twins and cherry rains. Thanks for reading my news report! Don't forget to eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies!

A Fun Fruit Picking Adventure!

Hi everyone! My name is Timmy and I'm a 4th grader at Oakdale Elementary School. I have the most exciting news to share with you all about our latest school field trip. Get ready, because it was an adventure you won't want to miss!

Last Friday, my whole class went fruit picking at Johnson Family Farm. Can you imagine? A huge farm with endless rows of fruit trees and bushes as far as the eye could see! I could hardly contain my excitement as we pulled up in the big yellow school bus.

As soon as we arrived, a nice farmer named Mr. Johnson greeted us. He was dressed in classic farmer overalls and a straw hat. With a big smile, he explained that we'd be picking strawberries, blueberries, and apples that day. He even let us sample some fresh berries right off the vine - they were deliciously sweet!

After Mr. Johnson's introduction, it was finally time to start picking. Our teacher divided us into three groups, one for each type of fruit. I was in the strawberry group, which made me really happy because strawberries are my absolute favorite!

We walked over to the strawberry fields, which seemed to stretch on forever with row after row of green leafy plants covered in ruby red berries. Mr. Johnson showed us how to gently pick the ripe strawberries and place them in our baskets without damaging the plants. He reminded us only to pick the bright red ones and leave the green ones for later.

Picking strawberries was harder than I thought! You have to bend all the way down and look under the leaves to find the hidden berries. But it was also a lot of fun. My basket kept getting heavier and heavier as I filled it up. Some of the

strawberries were huge - the size of ping pong balls! I may have snuck a few into my mouth too...oops!

After what seemed like no time at all, Mr. Johnson called out that it was time to switch sections. I didn't want to leave the strawberry patch, but I was excited to pick another fruit. Next up was the blueberry bushes. These were really cool because the branches were loaded down with plump, deep blue berries. We formed an assembly line to gently pick the berries off

the branches and drop them into our baskets. A few berries may have accidentally landed in my mouth again. Whoops!

Finally, it was time for the grand finale - apple picking! The apple trees were so tall, with branches way up high. Mr. Johnson gave us these awesome apple picking tools that were like tiny rakes to grab the apples off the high branches. He showed us how to carefully twist and pull to get the apples loose without damaging the trees.

I couldn't believe how many varieties of apples there were - red, yellow, green, and even some pinkish ones. I filled my basket up with a nice assortment. Carrying the heavy basket of apples was hard work, but I loved seeing all the shiny apples I had picked myself.

After a morning of hard work, Mr. Johnson announced it was lunchtime! Our class sat in the shade of the big red barn and enjoyed a picnic lunch with some of the delicious fresh berries we had picked. I made a epic fruit salad by mixing my

strawberries, blueberries, and diced apples together. It was like a taste of heaven!

But the fun wasn't over yet. After lunch, Mr. Johnson took us on a tour to meet all the farm animals. We got to pet downy chicks, calves, and even a friendly pig named Wilbur. My favorite

was definitely the gentle cow who gave me a huge lick on the cheek!

As we headed back to load up the bus, Mr. Johnson stopped us one last time. He pulled out a huge basket overflowing with fresh produce and told us it was for our class to take back and share. I couldn't believe we got to keep everything we had picked that day!

On the ride back to school, we were all exhausted but smiling from ear to ear. We had gotten so much fresh air, exercise, and best of all, we picked bushels of healthy fruits with our own hands. I spent the whole bus ride staring at my full basket, feeling proud of my hard work.

When I got home, my mom couldn't believe how much fruit I had picked. She made strawberry smoothies, blueberry pancakes, and homemade apple pies with my fresh haul. With every bite, it tasted like the sweet flavor of my awesome fruit picking day. I already can't wait for next year's field trip! Picking fruit sure was hard work, but it was also so much fun. I'm going to keep practicing my fruit picking skills this summer by helping my parents in our little backyard garden. Who knows, maybe I'll be a real farmer someday? Until then, I'll just be a professional fruit eating kid. Thanks for reading, and happy picking!

Fruit Picking Fun at Smith Farms!

Hi everybody! My name is Timmy and I'm a student at Oakwood Elementary School. I have a super exciting story to share with you all about the best field trip ever!

Last Friday, my whole 3rd grade class went on a field trip to Smith Farms to pick fruit. I had been looking forward to this day for weeks! When we arrived at the farm, a nice farmer named Mr. Smith greeted us. He had a big cowboy hat and boots on.

\"Howdy young'uns!\" he said with a big smile. \"Are y'all ready to do some pickin' today?\"

We all cheered and raised our hands. I was jumping up and down, I was so excited! Mr. Smith laughed and led us over to the strawberry fields first.

The strawberry fields seemed to go on forever, with rows and rows of green plants covered in bright red berries. They looked just like the strawberries my mom buys at the grocery store, except about a million times better!

\"Alright kids, let me show you how it's done,\" Mr. Smith said. He knelt down and gently plucked a big, juicy strawberry right

off the plant. \"You gotta be real careful not to squish 'em. These strawberries are mighty delicious but they're also mighty delicate!\"

Then Mr. Smith took a bite of the strawberry. His eyes went really wide and he let out a loud \"Mmmmmm!\" We all laughed at his silly face.

After that, we were turned loose into the fields! I quickly filled up my little red basket with tons of perfect strawberries. I was careful just like Mr. Smith showed us. I couldn't wait to take them home and make strawberry milkshakes!

Once our baskets were full, we moved on to the blackberry bushes. These plants had tons of thorns all over them, so we had to be extra careful.

\"Don't go reachin' in there without protection or you'll get pricked like a cactus!\" Mr. Smith warned as he passed out gardening gloves and buckets to us all.

With the gloves on, I was able to reach deep into the prickly bushes to grab the biggest, juiciest blackberries I had ever seen in my life! They were humungous compared to the tiny blackberries at the supermarket. My bucket got super heavy by the end from all the berries I picked.

After the blackberry bushes, we went to pick apples next. Mr. Smith had so many different varieties - red delicious, granny smith, gala, you name it! We used these cool pole picker tools that were like tiny rakes attached to the end of a long pole. That let us grab the apples way up at the top of the

Super Fun Fruit Picking Adventure!

Hi everyone! My name is Timmy and I'm a fourth grader at Oakwood Elementary School. I have the most exciting news to share with you all about the amazing fruit picking field trip our class went on last week. Get ready for an epic tale of strawberries, fun with friends, and lots of delicious snacks!

It all started last Monday morning when Mrs. Smith, our awesome teacher, told us we'd be going fruit picking at Sun Valley Farm on Friday. The whole class went \"Woohoo!\" because we love special field trips. All week long we could hardly sit still thinking about running through the strawberry fields. Finally, Friday morning arrived and we boarded the big yellow school bus. The ride to the farm seemed to take forever! My best friend Michael and I looked out the window and played \"I Spy\" to pass the time. When we finally pulled up to the farm,

the view was breathtaking. Row after row of beautiful green strawberry plants stretched out as far as the eye could see. Mrs. Smith gathered our class together and the kind farm owners, Old McDonald and his wife, welcomed us. We learned that their farm has been growing the juiciest, sweetest strawberries for over 50 years! After some basic rules about staying in our rows and not squashing any plants, we were finally unleashed into the strawberry patch.

Let me tell you, picking strawberries is hard work! You have to bend down, delicately pick each berry, and place it gently into your basket so they don't get smooshed. My back and knees started hurting after a little while. But we didn't mind because eating sweet fresh strawberries straight from the plant made it all worth it!

After an hour or so, our baskets were overflowing with at least 5 pounds of strawberries each. Some kids even had strawberry juice dripping down their chins from eating so many! We took a snack break to recharge with trail mix, granola bars, and Mrs. Smith's famous lemonade. The lemonade was so refreshing and delicious on the warm sunny day.

Next up was the best part - the strawberry relay race challenge! We split into teams and set up starting lines on each

side of the strawberry field. We had to carefully carry a basket of strawberries from one side, across the plants, to the other side and back again without dropping or smooshing any berries. It was total chaos with kids shrieking and dashing through the fields! My team, the Berry Blasters, ended up winning and each got to take home an extra pint of strawberries as our prize. Score!

After all that hard work and fun, it was sadly time to leave the farm. Mrs. Smith gathered us under the huge oak tree for one last surprise - an all-you-can-eat strawberry shortcake party! The whipped cream was so light and fluffy and those farmbread cakes were delicious. What a perfect way to end our big adventure.

On the bus ride back to school, we were all completely exhausted but full of joy and strawberry sweetness. Our class got to take all the strawberries we picked home to our families too. My little sister couldn't believe how many strawberries I brought home!

That night at dinner, my mom made us a fabulous

strawberry spinach salad. As I ate those fresh, juicy strawberries from the farm, I couldn't stop smiling thinking about what a fun

day it was with my classmates. From sunrise to sunset, we took our taste buds on a strawberry adventure they'll never forget! Well there you have it, the epic tale of our class strawberry picking field trip! It was a day crammed with fresh air, exercise, yummy snacks, fun competitions, and best of all - friendship. I'll never forget frolicking through those strawberry fields with my closest friends by my side. We're already begging Mrs. Smith to take us peach picking this summer! Three cheers for Sun Valley Farm - hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
