今天我们要学习的是combine。combine指将两者或两者以上的事物结合，使其共存、共同作用或合而为一成为新的个体。例如：

1. She successfully combines her career with family life. 她兼顾了事业和家庭生活，非常成功。

2. A number of factors have combined to create this difficult situation. 很多因素加在一起导致了这种困难的局面。

3. a. Hydrogen and oxygen combine to form water. 氢与氧化合成水。(化合) b. Combine the eggs and the flour. 把鸡蛋和面粉搅匀。(混合)

注意：combine既可以指物理属性发生变化的化合又可指物理属性未发生变化的混合。 另外，我们要注意词根com-，其含义为“with, together”，了解这个词根有助于更好地理解combine。
